Framing Joints
Framing Joints are mainly used in the construction of frames. They are genrally in the corner of a frame although they can be used in the middle of a peice when there is a peice running through the centre of the frame (i.e. through Mortise & Tenon). Here are some exaples of Framing Joints in the middle and on the corner:
This is a Bridle Joint. It has over double the gluing surface area of a halving joint so it will acheive a stronger bond.
This is a Halving Joint. A very commonly used joint due to its ease of construction. Dowels can be put through the joint to enhance its strength.
This is a Mortise & Tenon Joint. This Joint is difficult to do accurately. When done correctly it provides a very strong joint.
