Box/Carcase Joints
Mainly used in the construction of drawers or cabinets, Box/Carcase Joints mainly appear in the corner and have several "teeth" to maximize thier strength by giving more surface area for the glue to bond. There are simple joints and more extravegant joints which can be used, it just depends on the desires of the builder/customer. Here are some examples of Box/Carcase Joints:
This is a Mitre Joint. It is simple to construct but often difficult to get a perfect 45° angle.
This is a Dovetail Joint. They are most commonly used in drawers as they have extreme strength in two directions and are aesthetically pleasing.
This is a Housing Joint. They are extremely easy to construct but do not give a lot of strength.
This is a Comb/Finger Joint. This works similarly to a Dovetail Joint although does not have multi-directional strength. They are much easier to construct compared to a Dovetal Joint.
This is a Rebate Joint. Similar to a Housing Joint, this Joint does not have a lot of strength, but is a simple joint to use in the corner of a project.
