Drills

Drills are power tools used to bore holes in a variety of different materials. The tool is fitted with a cutting bit which is usually cylindrical with a sharp edges at the base which is what does the cutting. The tool can be fitted with phillips head or flat head attachments which can be used to fasten screws.

Like any power tool, the Drill comes with Hazards, Risks and Management Procedures. These are:

● Overheating
● Projectiles
● Dust & Noise
● Foreign Materials
● Obstuctions in the workplace
● Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)

Risks:
● Damage to Machine/Job
● Self Harm / Harm to others
● Dust Inhalation
● Tripping on Waste
● Entanglement

Management:
● Confidence
● PPE
● Clamping Work
● Adjusting Table Height
● Communication
● High RPM for small drill bit, Low RPM for large drill bit

This is what a modern Drill Press looks like. It is equipped with a motor for ease of use and the speed can be changed to cut different materials.

This is a modern, corldess, handheld Power Drill. These are used in any application where a Drill Press cannot be used.
